Thursday 2nd June

5.30 pm – 11.00 pm. Three Villages Sports Field. Thruxton SP11 8NT

Together with the Three Villages Sports Trust we will join with the rest of the country to light a beacon; a time-honoured tradition that marks a truly special occasion. Tickets will be available in advance and early booking is advised for this fantastic night out. Entertainment includes the renowned Sarah Mallock, and award-winning Clare Oliver and the Andover Ladies Choir.  Dancing is almost guaranteed as we listen to two local bands, Mickey Ace and the Wildcards and The Tumbleweeds.

Bring a picnic, tables and chairs and make yourself comfortable for a brilliant evening.  If you get extra peckish, Nigel will be there with his Woodfire Pizzas and there will also be a bar (kindly sponsored by The White Horse, Thruxton), selling beer, wine and soft drinks.  You will be able to pay by either cash or card.

At 9.45 the beacon will be lit and we will all join in with the National Anthem and a Royal toast.

Free car parking is available and we ask that you bring plastic glasses for drinking No gazebos or BBQ’s.  We also ask that everyone takes their litter home. This will be a truly memorable night when all three villages, Kimpton, Fyfield and Thruxton come together for a glorious commemoration of a wonderful 70 years.

Tickets are available on the link below priced at £8 per Adult. Children are free.

Film of Queen’s Coronation – 10.00 am

At 10.00 am we will be showing a film of the Queen’s Coronation.  Light refreshments will be available.  This is a free event and we hope many of our residents will want to take a trip down memory lane.  Of course, many will never have seen this film as it was shown on TV and 70 years ago not many were lucky enough to have one!

Jubilee Tea Party – 2.00pm

2.00pm onwards sees us donning our best bib and tucker for a wonderful cream tea.  Your ticket price includes posh sandwiches, cake, scones, jam and cream. The music of the 50’s will accompany your afternoon and dancing, though not essential, might be fun! Prosecco will be available to buy for those who like bubbles with their egg sandwiches.   Tickets are available on the link below or through Kate on 07736 804 445 and must be booked in advance.

“The Big Lunch” – Sunday 5th June

The Big Lunch will be celebrated in style on the Village Green. Starting at 11.30 am, all children are invited to come down to the Green to make crowns and get into the party mood.  The road in front of the Green will be closed and tables laid out for the children to sit at and eat the lunch provided by the Jubilee Fund.  Every child will receive a small gift from the fund which will hopefully remind them of a great day for years to come.

Local group Jaccamanda will be playing to entertain us all whilst we enjoy a lovely summer Sunday on the Green.

Games and activities for both young and old will be organised and all parents, residents, friends and family are invited to come down and bring a picnic.  There will be a tea tent and a bar.  No charge will be made for this event but we will be asking for the names of all the children who will be coming – we don’t want anyone to be left out.

Especially for the petrol heads amongst us, Thruxton Circuit are loaning us two very special cars for the day.

Tickets for all events will be available for purchase at Thruxton Loves Cake, every Wednesday morning in Thruxton Memorial Hall from 10 – 12.00.  At TLC we will be able to take cash or card.

Throughout all our planning, we have tried to ensure that over the weekend, we are providing something that everyone can feel is for them.  We hope that if you have guests for the weekend, you will bring them along too – everyone is welcome. We live in an extraordinary community, and we sincerely hope that everyone in the village will come along to at least one of the events – if not all of them!
